The Hospices de Beaune
A jewel of extravagant gothic art
With its elegant decoration (ironwork, dormer windows, weather vanes), the pattern of its famous glazed tiles and its old well, it represents rather the luxury of a gothic palace than the simplicity of a hospice. In the great hall or "paupers room", stands the moving 15th century "Christ of Pity" statue. In the Polyptych room is displayed the famous "Last Judgement polyptych" by Roger Van der Weyden
